Focus of the Program

Children will come for a week Monday to Friday and experience how life was lived in a nineteenth century Mennonite Village. Every day we highlight a different theme such as, “Who are the Mennonites?, Food & Home, Work& Play, Transportation, and Windmill.” These fun activities emphasize the role of a pioneer Mennonite child with family and community. These children are given hands on opportunities to back schnetji (biscuit), work with tools in the blacksmith shop, grind wheat with a Miller, and play many Mennonite traditional games. The staff wear traditional Mennonite wardrobe to enhance the children’s experience. The week is full of FUN! The children learn skills and share new experiences which can translate into their every day lives.
