MHV is temporarily closed to the public 

Shop online: MHV’s Village Books and Gifts e-commerce is open 24/7. Curbside pick-up is available.

With the health and safety of our visitors and staff in mind and in light of the current recommendations from public health authorities, the Mennonite Heritage Village is temporarily CLOSED to the public beginning November 9th, 2020 due to the public health risks of COVID 19. All bookings & events have been suspended during our closure. We will continue to follow recommendations outlined by our provincial and local health authorities to determine the length of this closure. (Updated: November 9, 2020  9:00 am)

October- April
Tuesday – Saturday: 9 am – 5 pm

Outdoor buildings re-open May 1st.*

May – September
Monday – Saturday: 9 am – 5 pm (Thursdays open until 8 pm)

Sunday: 11:30 am to 5 pm

The outdoor buildings are closed from October 1 to April 30. Reduced admission is in effect. If they are opened by arrangement for a large group, regular admission prices apply.
The museum may be closed due to severe weather conditions. To avoid disappointment please call ahead.

Andrea Klassen, B.A. (Hons), M.A. Senior Curator

Andrea is responsible for the museum's collection of artifacts and for the development of all our exhibits.She brings a rich experience in Mennonite history and curatorial work to MHV. Andrea earned her BA (Hons) in History at the University of Winnipeg and her MA in Mennonite History at the University of Manitoba and University of Winnipeg. She also currently holds a part-time position with the D. F. Plett Historical Research Foundation.

Gary Dyck, B.A. (Hons), M.A. Executive Director

Gary is responsible for the overall management of MHV. Guiding the staff, informing the board, and networking with officials, volunteers, corporate sponsors, individual donors and other guests. He has a business diploma and a MA in Global Studies from Providence Theological Seminary. With his family he did humanitarian work for 18 years in Asia, including being a CEO of a Compost Enterprise in China. He loves to discuss the Mennonite story and how it is relevant in our world.

Jo-Ann Friesen Gift Shop, Reception & Office Manager

As Manager of Village Books and Gifts, Jo-Ann comes to MHV with many years of business, communication and customer service experience. Her bubbly personality is contagious and is a person who works tremendously hard to ensure complete customer satisfaction. Whether you are looking for that perfect souvenir or exciting book, Jo-Ann is always ready to lend a helping hand.

Robert Goertzen, B.A. Program Manager

Robert is a lifelong resident of the Steinbach area and has been involved in various aspects of community life, including work, recreation and church. He has a bachelor’s degree in history, with particular interest in Mennonite history. We are pleased to have Robert on our team to lead this important part of MHV’s work.

Nita Wiebe Gift Shop Assistant and Receptionist

On most days, Nita is the first face you’ll see when you walk into the museum. She serves as the receptionist for MHV and assists in the day to day running of Village Books & Gifts. She loves books and the arts and brings many years of retail experience to the shop.

Patrick Friesen, BRE, M.A., D.W.S. Development Coordinator

Patrick comes to the position of Development Coordinator with a passion for storytelling and a desire to see the Mennonite story impact people around the world. Prior to coming to MHV, Patrick worked at Steinbach Bible College where he led the worship studies program and served in a variety of administrative roles. We are pleased to have Patrick's creativity to better promote MHV's work.
