Outdoor buildings re-open May 1st.*

The outdoor buildings are closed from October to April. Reduced admission is in effect. If they are opened by arrangement for a large group, regular admission prices apply.

Yuliya Asraf Food Services Manager (Seasonal)

Yuliya is the Food Services Manager here at MHV. She is the one that is responsible for the meals and service at the Livery barn restaurant. She also offers catering services for weddings, anniversaries, family gatherings, birthday parties and business meals or staff parties. If you are looking for a place to enjoy traditional Mennonite food or for a catering service to celebrate one of your events, contact her today for prices and details.

Andrea Dyck, B.A. (Hons), M.A. Senior Curator

Andrea is responsible for the museum's collection of artifacts and for the development of all our exhibits.She brings a rich experience in Mennonite history and curatorial work to MHV. Andrea earned her BA (Hons) in History at the University of Winnipeg and her MA in Mennonite History at the University of Manitoba and University of Winnipeg. She also currently holds a part-time position with the D. F. Plett Historical Research Foundation.

Gary Dyck, B.A. (Hons), M.A. Executive Director

Gary is responsible for the overall management of MHV. Guiding the staff, informing the board, and networking with officials, volunteers, corporate sponsors, individual donors and other guests. He has a business diploma and a MA in Global Studies from Providence Theological Seminary. With his family he did humanitarian work for 18 years in Asia, including being a CEO of a Compost Enterprise in China. He loves to discuss the Mennonite story and how it is relevant in our world.

Jo-Ann Friesen Gift Shop & Office Manager

As Manager of Village Books and Gifts, Jo-Ann comes to MHV with many years of business, communication and customer service experience. Her bubbly personality is contagious and is a person who works tremendously hard to ensure complete customer satisfaction. Whether you are looking for that perfect souvenir or exciting book, Jo-Ann is always ready to lend a helping hand.

Robert Goertzen, B.A. Program Manager

Robert is a lifelong resident of the Steinbach area and has been involved in various aspects of community life, including work, recreation and church. He has a bachelor’s degree in history, with particular interest in Mennonite history. We are pleased to have Robert on our team to lead this important part of MHV’s work.

Jenna Klassen, B.A. Assistant Curator

Jenna comes to us with valuable experience in the field of community museums and has an academic background in immigration and ethnicity history, focusing on Russian-descendant Mennonites. She is currently working on her Master of Arts in History and one of her primary research sources is MHV’s collection of Russländer artefacts. Jenna will be continuing her MA research as she takes on the Assistant Curator role here.

Marilee Arthur Development Coordinator

Marilee is responsible for our fundraising, marketing, sponsorship, and promotional interests. Recently relocated from Toronto, Ontario, Marilee brings to the table many years of experience from a broad range of areas. Educated as a counselor and health and wellness professional, she understands that people are the heart of every organization and event. Marilee also worked for enVision Community Living as their fundraising and promotions coordinator and she is excited about collaborating and connecting with Steinbach's Mennonite heritage and its wonderful community.

Nita Wiebe Gift Shop Assistant and Receptionist

On most days, Nita is the first face you’ll see when you walk into the museum. She serves as the receptionist for MHV and assists in the day to day running of Village Books & Gifts. She loves books and the arts and brings many years of retail experience to the shop.
