Winter in the Village (Weather permitting)

Experience winter in MHV’s picturesque Village! Enjoy skating, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, and a roaring bonfire. Don’t own skates or snowshoes? Rent them here! Try your hand at Crokicurl, a Canadian game that blends crokinole and curling into one fun, outdoor activity! See MHV’s Main Street lit up with Christmas lights during our light show. Warm up with our Winter in the Village Cafe, featuring hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and a variety of freshly baked goods, Celebrate the winter season at MHV! (All outdoor activities are weather dependent.)

Outdoor Activities (Weather permitting)

• Skate, Snowshoe, and Kicksled Rentals. For $5 you can rent your own pair of skates or snowshoes! Kicksleds are $5/hour or $10/day. Have your own skates or snowshoes? Bring them here and skate or snowshoe for free! (Weather dependent.)
• Snowshoe Trails: See the beauty of the Village on snowshoes – try out our two snowshoe trails – the Housebarn Trail and the Pond Trail (maps available at Reception and General Store.) (Weather dependent.)
• Skating Rink & Skating Trail: Skate your way through MHV’s winter wonderland! Enjoy the skating trail that snakes through the bush and is lit up by Christmas lights. (Weather dependent.)
• Crokicurl: This uniquely Canadian game blends crokinole (a classic indoor game) and curling into one fun, outdoor activity! We’ll provide the playing surface and rocks so you’re all ready to play. (Weather dependent.)
• Light Show! At 4pm every Saturday evening, see the Village lit up with thousands of Christmas lights. It’s a beautiful sight!
• Sleigh Rides! Sleigh Rides are free with your admission purchase. Hear those sleigh bells jingling as you drive through our Village! (Weather dependent.)
• Hot Dog Roasting: In the mood for a hot dog roast? Roast your own over the roaring fire! For $5 you’ll get a hot dog and a bag of chips.

  • Winter in the Village Café. Warm up with an assortment of freshly baked good, hot chocolate, and hot apple cider.
  • Crokinole: Have you always wanted to play crokinole but don’t know where? Grab your friends and come out to MHV to play on Saturdays! Sharpen up your skills in preparation for our Crokinole tournament during the Winter Carnival on February 14^th.
  • Kid’s Craft Corner: Let your creativity shine with a free, self-guided craft activity.
  • Indoor Galleries: Brush up on your Mennonite history and take a stroll through our two Indoor Galleries.
