The Mennonite Heritage Village (MHV), located in Steinbach, MB, is an interpretive centre and open-air museum whose mission is to relate the story of the Russian Mennonites and their settlement in Manitoba. The museum has a collection of over 16,000 artefacts, more than 30 buildings and historical features on a 40-acre site, as well as two indoor galleries and numerous display areas. This position is responsible for the daily routine involved in Reception/Admissions, Gift Shop, and the General Store, and reports to the Visitor Experience Administrator. It will require varied work shifts at different times of the day, weekends and on holidays as required. Customer service excellence and a passion for history are key qualifications for this position.

Qualifications
Education and Training:
- The position funding requires applicants to be between 17-30 years of age
Experience:
- 2 to 3 years of retail experience preferred
Skills and Competencies:
- A creative approach to merchandising
- A strong customer service orientation
- An eye for detail
- A basic understanding of business
- An interest in things historical
- Proficient in Microsoft applications
Deliverables and Responsibilities:
Deliverable 1 – Reception/Admissions
Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors appropriately, face to face, or by phone.
- Assess and respond promptly to inquiries, clarify needs, and provide direction in a professional manner.
- Provide administrative support, and data entry as requested by the Visitor Experience Administrator.
- Assist in the preparation of outgoing mail for pick-up or courier, process orders, forms, and requests.
Deliverable 2 – Gift Shop & General Store Support
Responsibilities:
- Support the Storekeeper in the retail store in keeping with company policies, procedures, displays and merchandising.
- Consistently provide customers with the highest level of service.
- Maintain current knowledge of MHV products, promotions, and company marketing initiatives.
- Participate in the General Store commerce with required shifts, and help set up the outdoor Candy Booth for MHV festivals and events, as well as other various tasks.
Deliverable 3 – Team Participation
Responsibilities:
- Support the activities of other MHV departments as required.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Visitor Experience Administrator.
